The native Irish are generally Blue, Green or Hazel (green-yellow-blue-combos) eyed. Irish generally have hazel or red hair. Most Irish are born blond. Black hair is not a native Irish characteristic. A friend of mine has black hair and an English surname. As you go east across Europe, people become more blonde and less native European - therefore any idea that being blonde makes you more pure or native European is wrong. Ireland and Scotland have the highest red-headed populations on the planet. Most Irish women die their hair.

A Blond, blue Eyed image for the Irish goes smack in the face of all the racial stereotypes of the Irish and shows that we Irish have enough 'diversity' in our own island just as it is.

And Ireland is more North, and thus more fair skinned and lighter hair even than the occupying British.

Actually, I must say I don't think the red hair thing is too much of a stereotype at all. I know legions of redheads, both family members and friends and I see many each day wherever I am. I mean, I can think of many famous Irish with red hair who you only need to look at from a distance to *know* they're Irish.

To say the least, I don't think Jews care a lot about stereotyping Irish. They have other jobs to do...Most Jews I know haven't the faintest interest in Ireland and its people. Good news, isn't it ?
