  2. Learning Irish by Micheal O Siadhail

Hmm, well, I baught the Teach Yourself Irish, by Diarmuid O Se and Joseph Sheils but I really couldn't get into it. It really seemed like a piss poor effort. I think I would have a better chance learning French from a Airport pamphlet before going on holliday in Paris than learning Irish from...

  3. Irish is child's play

Irish is not only trendy, it's fun to learn. More and more parents are opting to educate their children through our native tongue, and now they can start even earlier as 'naíonraí' playschools open up all around the country Twenty years ago, the Irish language was not cool. If a student left...

  6. 1911 Census

I have just finished looking at the online 1911 Census for Donegal. My paternal grandmother's family are noted as consisting entirely of monoglot Gaels (paternal grandfather's lot are bi-lingual). 99 years later: only my father is a native speaker of Irish, I am a helluva struggling learner and...

  11. Is Gaelic indeed a Race?

I've been told time and time again that Gaelic was a race, spawned from the Irish. I question that. I'm trying to learn more about my family's origions and Ireland happens to be one of them. ( among the rest of Europe). Is Gaelic and race, or simply a language or belife system?
